The people’s Bank of Zanzibar Limited (PBZ) is a Semi-Autonomous Public Institution which is 100% owned by the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.  It was established on June, 30 1966 under Cap.153 of the Zanzibar Companies Decree as repealed and replaced by the Companies Act No. 15 of 2013. The primary function was to carry on the business on commercial banking activities in all of its Branches and Departments within Tanzania.

The Bank is currently offering Conventional and Islamic Banking Services through its Branches in Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam and Mtwara, with power to receive deposits, invest, lend money and other related Commercial Banking Services.

The Bank is currently undertaking expansion of her services and thus inviting the applications from qualified and energetic human capital with the right knowledge and skills to fill the following vacant posts below:

POST            :         PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER      

Location      :         Unguja         1

Position objectives:

Maintain positive reputation of the bank brand and maintain a strategic relationship with the public, prospective customers, partners, employees and other stakeholders which leads to positive image of the bank.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Mass Communication or Public Relations or International Relations or Political Science in International Relations or its equivalent qualification from any recognized University. At least one-year (1) working experience in the Field of Customer or Public Relations will be an added advantage.

  • Interpersonal skills to create and maintain relevant business networks
  • Smart and presentable individual
  • Knowledge and effective application of PBZ policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines to consistently achieve required compliance standards
  • Strong communication (writing and presentation) in English and Kiswahili

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Be an advertising agency contact
  2. Creating awareness about the bank, its goals, products and services
  3. Planning publicity strategies and campaigns
  4. Writing, drafting speeches, arranging interviews and maintaining other forms of public/media contact.
  5. Develop and prepare advertising agency briefs for product launch promotion and special events.
  6. Dealing with enquiries from the public, the press and related organizations
  7. Organizing and attending promotional events such as press conferences, open day, exhibitions etc
  8. Speaking publicly at interviews, press conferences and presentations.
  9. Providing clients and customers with information about new products, and promotional opportunities
  10. Analyzing media coverage
  11. Commissioning or undertaking relevant marketing research
  12. Liaising with customers, managerial and journalists about objectives and other bank issues.
  13. Review plans for marketing campaigns.
  14. Maintain good customer service in dealing with internal and external customers
  15. Perform any other related duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Terms of Employment

  • Three (3) years contract (Renewable).
  • Age limit of not more than thirty-five (35) years as at 31st October, 2020

Post              :         ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN

Location      :         Unguja 1

Position objectives:

  • Maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures in accordance with relevant codes.

Education and Experience:

  • Ordinary Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Full Technical Certificate (FTC) majoring in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent qualification.
  • At least one-year (1) working experience in the Field of Electrical maintenance 
  • Knowledge and effective application of PBZ policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines to consistently achieve required compliance standards
  • Strong communication (writing and presentation) in English and Kiswahili
  • Able to work independently and efficiently

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assembling, evaluating, testing, and maintaining the bank’s electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
  2. Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning the bank’s electrical equipment, appliances, and devices
  3. Constructing and fabricating the bank’s electrical parts, using hand tools and specifications.
  4. Reading and interpreting the bank’s electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics
  5. Advising management of the bank on continued use of unsuitable equipment, appliances, and apparatus
  6. Ordering of electrical supplies and equipment
  7. Evaluating the Bank’s Electric systems’ safety, reliability, and performance
  8. Install, maintain and repair the bank’s electrical control, wiring and lighting system
  9. Perform general electrical maintenance of the bank
  10. Performing any other duties to be assigned by his/her supervisor

REMUNERATION

Attractive salary with PBZ Scales/Grades will be offered to the selected candidate along with incentive packages as per PBZ Staff regulations.
